Founded in 2017, the business has worked with well-known brands like Cuts Ice, Click Vapes, T-Juice, to streamline their eCommerce processes and maximise online sales and revenue. In this client spotlight, we talk to Maliza Booysen, Carter & Prince’s CEO, about the client challenges that led them to engage VerifyMyAge.
Our client needed a solution that had a WooCommerce integration which seamlessly allowed customers to verify their purchase, post-payment.
What challenge did you face, which led to you contacting VerifyMyAge?
After migrating one of our vaping sector client’s sites over to WooCommerce, we onboarded an age verification (AV) solution that had a native WooCommerce integration. About a week after pushing the AV solution live on the client’s site, we saw a sudden drop off in sales. We were pretty quickly able to identify that a fault in the AV solution meant that customers were not able to verify their ages, and were abandoning their purchases. As you can imagine, any negative impact on the customer experience means a negative impact on revenue.
Because of the legal requirement for age verification of vape sales in the UK, our client could not have their site live without a working solution. We needed an alternative and we needed it quickly. Our client had to shut down their site for six hours on the day we realised there was an issue, which you can imagine had a significant impact on sales. After a quick Google search and a comment on a VerifyMyAge LinkedIn post, I was able to track down a member of the sales team and have them reach out to me directly.
Our previous AV solution would not allow me to follow the age verification process and see where the failure was.

How did VerifyMyAge help with the overall implementation of the solution?
They were phenomenal. The quality of communication and sincerity from the team was stand out. Incidentally on the day I reached out to VerifyMyAge, not only had we shut down our client’s site, but there was also no power in South Africa (where I’m based). In the midst of everything going wrong, the team really came to the rescue. They were kind enough to keep me posted via WhatsApp as we started switching over, right through to 10 o'clock at night, when we went live.

What impressed me the most was the synergistic approach the team took to help me solve my client’s challenge.
