Overview.

Camden Town Brewery is a leading brewery based in North London and the home of Hells Lager. Founded by Jasper Cuppaidge, the team began brewing under the railway arches in Camden in 2010 and opened a second brewery in Enfield in July 2017. The Enfield brewery is the largest brewery to be built in London in over 30 years.

Camden Town Brewery’s core range consists of five beers including its award-winning Hells Lager and the brand’s latest launch – Off Menu IPA. These beers are available in all major supermarkets as well as around 3,000 pubs, bars and independent retailers.

  1. How did you first hear about VerifyMyAge?

    VerifyMyAge came through as a suggestion from our design agency Studio Juice, as a great solution for age verification without the barriers of entering credit card details or ID checks at delivery.

  2. What challenge did you face, which led to you contacting us?

    Let’s face it, 2020 has been bad. So we decided to launch the world’s first Telly Ad you can (kind of) drink to give the British Public fresh beers, through their telly- for free. All people had to do was catch our TV ad during the Champions League semi-finals and final, or over two weekends on Channel 4, scan the QR codes on screen with their phone cameras and win fresh beers delivered straight to their door. There were 90,000 beers up for grabs over 12.5k prizes so we needed a seamless, easy to use process to verify each winners’ age.

    During our planning process we found there to be a lack of age verification options that seamlessly worked within our platform, or weren’t over complicated for people to participate with.

  1. What were you looking for in a solution?

    The age verification solution needed to be quick and easy to integrate with our systems to avoid any barriers for consumer participation, whilst giving us the flexibility that our campaign needed.

    With such a high profile campaign we also needed a solution which was robust, and during peak times could handle over 3,000 verifications in under 60 minutes during each ad airing.

    We wanted a solution that gave our consumers the most seamless user journey in claiming their free beer. We wanted to avoid users entering credit card details (it’s free afterall!) or being home for age checking at delivery to prevent any barriers to entry.

    The VerifyMyAge solution was easy to implement, had an easy & seamless consumer journey and could provide us and our winners with the highest pass rates possible and we managed to see a 99.4% pass rate during the campaign and over 97% overall.

  1. How did VerifyMyAge help with the overall implementation of the solution?

    VerifyMyAge willingly handled our last minute requests for change and were able to tailor their solution to meet our requirements. This included optimisations throughout the campaign to cater for our unique use case and outside office hour support.

  2. What have you been most impressed with?

    The lead time for integration was tight, and the VerifyMyAge team went above and beyond to deliver our campaign and give the UK public their fresh beer! We were impressed with the speed of setup and seamless integration within the Shopify checkout flow - over the bulk of our AVCs passed in stealth mode which created a good customer and brand experience.
